Thrive Together Project
2025-2026
The Thrive Together Project was a collaborative initiative between Elmbridge Borough Council’s Culture, Leisure and Environment Team, INYBB, Forthouse Surgery, Elmbridge Museum and Surrey Heartlands. Bringing together healthcare, wellbeing, culture and community partners, the project supported women to improve their physical, emotional and social wellbeing through a unique programme of activities centred on compassion, curiosity, connection and growth.
Over 12 weeks, participants took part in health assessments, wellbeing workshops, strength and stretch sessions, nature-based walk-and-talk activities, creative exploration, reflection and peer support. Coming together to share experiences, learn practical wellbeing tools, and participate in opportunities to connect with themselves and others, participants built confidence, resilience and a stronger sense of belonging.
The project culminated in the co-creation of a fabric artwork that tells the collective story of the women who took part. Each hand sewn element represents an individual journey woven together into a shared vision designed by the group. Created through conversation, creativity and collaboration, the artwork reflects the values at the heart of Thrive Together: compassion for ourselves and others, curiosity about new possibilities and meaningful connection.
Originally exhibited at Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre before becoming a permanent feature at Forthouse Surgery, the artwork serves as both a celebration of the participants’ achievements and a reminder of the power of cross-sector partnerships to support health and wellbeing through creativity, movement, nature and community connection. It invites visitors to see themselves in the artwork and consider steps that can support their own wellbeing journey.
With thanks to the Charity of Robert Phillips for their generous support of the Thrive Together Project.
