About Us

INYBB was established in 2016 to engage people in creativity in ways that centre them. We proactively develop partnerships with people who have the least access to creative opportunities. We build individual and collective agency to make positive change for them and those that come after them.

We support people to create and express themselves in ways that are helpful to them as experts in their own lives and celebrate their creativity. Creativity as a focus of positivity and change for our community can help find new and better ideas; it presents ways to centre equity where everyone’s ideas are welcomed, respected and heard.  All our work is built and delivered around  the Creative Health Quality Framework's eight principles. We priortise our programmes and workshops being person-centred, equitable, safe, collaborative, creative, realistic, reflective and sustainable.

We come together to share and celebrate our uniqueness as both artists and human beings, whilst making positive change for communities and individuals. We are a trauma-informed, not-for-profit organisation based in East Molesey in Surrey and work predominantly in London and South-East England.

What we do

We work alongside people to co-create programmes that strengthen community, improve environments and drive personal, relational and cultural change through creativity. Our inclusive, co-creation processes mean trust is built, engagement is deeper, and results have more impact.  All our programmes are led by artists, facilitators and youth workers who are trauma-informed and active creators themselves. Many of our team have lived experience of the places and spaces we work in.

Our strengths-based approach builds trust and ownership so the co-creation has integrity and meaningful impact and builds both confidence and emotional health for all those involved. We join up different parts of a community who would not otherwise meet. We hope this leads to greater understanding, empathy and continued engagement between people or groups who may otherwise walk past each other on the street or assume they have nothing in common.

Our programmes and offers include:
Creative Arts Workshops, Creative Writing Workshops, Creative Wellbeing Workshops, Creativity in the Workplace, Creative Consultation, Using Creativity to document and measure impact, Co-created Murals, Art and Craft Packs, Postal and pen-pal projects , Exhibitions and Events, Commissions, Facilitation.

Between 2016 – 2024 INYBB...

Learning and Reflection

In Summer 2024 we undertook a Learning and Reflection Activity, led independently by Dartington Service Design Lab, thanks to the funding and support of UK Youth. The study involved young adults in custody at HMP & YOI Feltham, prison staff, young adults who were recently released from custody.  It concluded that:

- INYBB Programmes foster a sense of agency and choice which, in a custodial environment, is rare and enables young adults to better manage complex feelings and challenging circumstances, which improves their relationships both in and outside of prison.

- The INYBB offer provides young adults with critical opportunities to support their personal development and better understand themselves through creative activities, which enables self-expression and regular acknowledgement of their work and their potential.

- New skills and experiences were developed within a safe and encouraging environment.

- The INYBB team is highly skilled in criminal-justice based facilitation and trauma-informed practice and carries a high level of responsibility in this setting.

“I feel very supported, INYBB values my work, actively involves me and makes me feel noticed.” (Young Adult at HMP&YOI Feltham)

“There is more awareness of what certain individuals may like and be interested in and that can help them in finding their way out (to desistance).” (HMP&YOI Staff Member)
