Mentoring Young Adult Creatives

2021 - present
With the support of UK Youth and The Weavers Charity, INYBB has worked with young adults with creative talents to develop their skills and experiences in ways that support their personal growth and their career pathways. One talented young adult we met at Feltham, used his own custodial experiences to create a bespoke Creative Distraction pack for young adults entering the prison’s induction unit. Drawing from his journey, the pack offers creative outlets, ways to connect with loved ones, and tools to process the challenges of custody. Feedback highlighted its positive impact, with young adults valuing input from someone who truly understands their position.

"It was the relationship I built with INYBB that was significant for me, they saw in me what I couldn’t see in myself and encouraged me to have hope in a better life.”

The creation of this pack was supported by HMP&YOI Feltham. Other outcomes have included a talented musician being awarded his first Arts Council England grant to develop his creative practice, a visual artist developing his art into cards and clothing and being commissioned to create the Coca-Cola Euro-Pacific Partners Christmas Card and a writer performing his poetry at the Southbank Centre.
