HMP The Mount
Mural Project

In 2022, we partnered with HMP The Mount to co-create murals across four residential wings and the gym entrance hall. Funded by HMP The Mount, this project transformed sterile walls into vibrant, meaningful artworks that reflect the community and architecture of the spaces.
“I’ve tended to work on my own before. This project has shown me how to collaborate and work as part of a team which I’ve never done before.”
The men on one wing designed "Walk to the Sound of Your Own Beat," emphasising individuality and creativity through art, music, and words. Another wing created a colorful, imaginary world showcasing cultural diversity with 24 national flowers representing the 24 different nationalities and heritage of the men on the wing. A third wing brightened their space with an abstract design featuring intricate patterns, while a fourth painted a lush tropical rainforest. The gym entrance became a calming mountain landscape.
“There should be more projects like this that we can get involved with. This was the first time I felt like I was taking part in something rehabilitative.”
