Alice in Wonderland

Jan 2020 – Mar 2020
In 2020, we collaborated with Anstee Bridge, an alternative learning programme supporting young people aged 14-16 facing emotional challenges that impact their education. The project was funded by generous supporters, aiming to use creativity to foster confidence and well-being.

Alice in Wonderland was a six-week programme designed to help students explore well-being through artistic expression, using Lewis Carroll's beloved book as inspiration. Students engaged in various creative mediums, including painting, printing, weaving, and clay sculpture.

The project’s intentions were to support mental health, encourage self-expression, and build connections with the wider community. Students also participated in letter-writing and wellbeing tea parties, sharing their art and stories. A week of collaboration with Lime Tree Primary School allowed older students to mentor younger ones. The project culminated in a successful exhibition at Surbiton Library, opened by the Mayor.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing newfound confidence in their artistic abilities.
