“A Different View”

An NHS and HMPPS mural project
2025-2026

We are proud to share this beautiful set of co-created murals that we worked on with people at a London based NHS/HMPPS partnership programme.

We spent eight weeks working with the group before we started on the murals, to support a relational approach and increase confidence in art materials, techniques, mediums, content, and colour.

We also worked together on a community poem as part of the programme, which conveyed the essence of the group and what it meant to people.

“We’ve built a space,
Of connection and togetherness.
Where we can be ourselves without judgement.
A place of warmth and inspiration,
Of artistic and community liberation.”

Excerpt from group poem.

The poems themes inspired the collaborative mural designs. It was important that the group murals reflected the local community, drew parallels with the changing seasons in nature and their capacity to offer a sense of reset and renewal, celebrated the warmth and connection within the space, and highlighted the truly liberating power of creativity.

“I think what I love the most is that the murals feel as if they have always been part of the space and yet at the same time lift and freshen it like an open window.”

The designs reflected what the group wanted to convey, layering multiple voices and opinions so everyone could see their contributions in the final artworks. All those involved did a brilliant job of helping with the installation of the final pieces too. Thank you to everyone who took part!
